The Pad Project UK working in Partnership with Local Charity “Coffee Mates”

SHARE:

Last month The Pad Project UK visited Coffee Mate in Adeyfield, a social group for the elderly and disabled which is run by Denise.

Denise explained to Alethia how the community group had been struggling to get hold of incontinence pads, so when The Pad Project UK contacted her to tell them of our services, she jumped at the chance to work with us.

The Pad Project UK did a small presentation to those that were attending Coffee Mate to explain what we do as a charity and how we are helping in the community by providing incontinence pads to those that are in desperate need of them.

We love what Coffee Mate are doing to help the community, and we are really looking forward to a long working relationship with them where we can help each other out.

Here at The Pad Project UK, we are always on the lookout for organisations / charities that we can partner with, whether this be as a Drop zone or Hub.

We are also looking for individuals / organisations that we can donate to or who can donate to us.

"Coffee Mates" at Adeyfield Community Centre, Hemel Hempstead

Our coffee mornings have been running for over 12 years and have 25
members and 4 volunteers. We meet in the community centre on
Tuesdays from 10. a.m. until 11.30 a.m., for tea, coffee. toast, fruit and
cheese, biscuits and cakes. We offer friendship to elderly and disabled
people, with volunteer transport when needed. Many guests live alone,
and their families live at a distance. It is humbling to see how guests
support each other in times of trouble.

Activities include knitting, a weekly quiz, singalongs, and plenty of
chat! All our outings are free to our guests. These include out to
Christmas Dinner, trips to garden centres and local beauty spots. For
some guests these are their only outings. We depend on charitable
donations and our own fund raising efforts – table top sales, raffles etc,
often with goods provided by guests.

We have a group of housebound guests; we try to include them in special
events but they require individual volunteer transport.we did offer home
cooked meals which were delivered regularly but we can no longer get
help from Dacorum food Bank. BUT we can provide FREE FISH
AND CHIPS DELIVERED TO THEIR HOMES, AND TO OUR
MEETINGS.THANKS TO A DISCOUNT FROM A LOCAL
“CHIPPY”

We have a discrete system to provide incontinence pads for those in need. These are given free, as the organiser obtains them through her
membership of the Red Cross and now works in partnership with The Pad Project UK.

Confidential debt reduction advice is offered.

We welcome visits from local groups:-Guide Dogs, Housing Officers, Fire Brigade etc.

We enjoy the support of our local P.C.S.O and especially
of our M.P. Mr. Mike Penning.

We offer more than coffee!
