Weekend On-Call Supervisor

The Company

We believe that it’s not where you are in life that matters, but who you have by your side. We offer respite to full-time caregivers while providing companionship and support to those they care for, encouraging individuals to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. We also support independent living for individuals without full-time caregivers.

Personal Attributes of an On-Call Supervisor

As an On-Call Supervisor, you need to share the compassion and dedication of our Care Practitioners. You should genuinely care for the welfare of others, be naturally organized, and be dedicated to the role.

You should aim to ensure your work is effective, allowing us to match our carers with our customers. You must be dedicated to completing tasks to the highest standard and be accurate and timely. You should have a sense of pride in your work and understand its impact on the business and its customers.

You need to act under pressure, as an On-Call Supervisor often has a short window of time to organise cover or handle emergencies. You must work calmly and be approachable to all staff and customers.

Empathy and integrity are crucial, as you may deal with the sensitive concerns of employees and co-workers. Building a trusting relationship with our staff is important to support them in carrying out their tasks effectively.

We want our individuals and their support carers, such as family members and friends, to feel they have a real shoulder to lean on. You must have integrity and dedication to deliver the high expectations for the support individuals deserve.

Summary of the Role of an On-Call Supervisor

  • The role of an On-Call Supervisor is to coordinate Care Practitioners out of hours when emergencies or sickness arise.
  • You will need to collect the on-call phone and weekend/evening paperwork, becoming the point of contact for staff or customers needing assistance due to sickness or emergencies. Keeping good records of events and carrying out a handover following the on-call shift is essential.
  • You must be available throughout the on-call hours to take over any shifts needing cover and be locally situated to reach a carer or customer within 30 minutes. This could involve covering the shift or attending an emergency.
  • Your duties must be performed in a trained, professional, and knowledgeable manner. You will be responsible for keeping accurate records and systems up to date, including changing rotas and informing customers of any changes as they arise.
  • You need to be aware of the personal needs and requirements of the individuals we support, successfully communicating with the individual and other important people in their life, such as family, friends, and healthcare professionals. Alerting your manager to any changes or causes for concern regarding the individuals’ or carers’ conditions and well-being on time following the on-call shift is also your responsibility.
  • The support we provide is unique to each person and will vary accordingly.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Emotional Support

You will be responsible for making the best match for our customers regarding who will support them and fulfilling the coordination of these visits. Ensuring that rotas are updated promptly to reflect any changes and informing carers and customers of these changes is essential.
